     The Administration of the temple is carried in accordance with the Sri Jagannath Temple Act of 1954 of the Orissa State Government. Under the said act, Section 6, the Administration shall be governed by a committee of 12 persons (at present) as follows:


     The Raja Gajapati of Jagannath Puri (Chairman)
The Collector of Jagannath Puri (Ex-Officio Vice-Chairman)
The Administrator
The Commissioner of Endowments


     One person to be nominated by the Govt from amongst those entitled to sit on the MuktiMandap. Four persons to be nominated by the Govt from amongst the Sevaks of the temple.One person nominated from amongst the temples and other institutions connected with Sevapujas or Nities of the temple.Two more persons to be nominated by the Govt other than those appointed under 6 and 7 above. Only Hindu believers can be members on the committee. Other than the ex-officio members and the Chairman others are appointed for a period of 3 years .If the Raja is unable for any reason like minority or disability to continue his seva, there are alternate arrangements for management in his absence of his services. However, as soon as he or his descendants become able they will havethe right toresumetheir duties.
